Challenge 62 - Proud Parents

About the composition

This is a typical scene on the grass areas everywhere in Canada. Wild geese and this time a special treat small geese with their parents. I love them. Any time they decide to cross the road the whole traffic stops, sometimes for 10 min (they do not rush), even during rush hours when people hurry to work or from work. I am so glad they are protected by law and we all have a chance to enjoy their beauty.

Please send your paintings before Sep 05, 2016. The next challenge will be posted on Sep 06

Challenge 61 - Creating a Composition

About the composition

In this challenge I thought it would be fun and exciting to create a custom composition based on given photo references. Quite often artist are expected to create a composition based on multiple sketches from real life enriched by photo references and imagination, and this challenge will be a good exercise.

The ask is to create you own still life composition based on two given photo references and  imagination. Please pay attention where the light is coming from and where the shadows are supposed to be, so that the whole composition looks unified, as if all elements were there in real life.

Of course, if this proves to be too complex, you are welcome to choose either of subjects and paint.

Please send your paintings before July 17, 2016. The next challenge will be posted on July 18th.

All the best and Happy Painting.

Challenge 60 - Mimi

Thank you to everyone that participated in PADT winter challenge.

Your artistic mastery, enthusiasm, and positive spirit certainly made each painting look much better than the reference photograph. That is one of the many reasons why artists are highly regarded and much needed :)

About the composition

This is my middle sister Mimi. She has a very bright spirit and yes she enjoys paying attention to how she dresses up.
Needles to say portraits are always challenging to paint. Give it a try. Only by practicing we become better at what we do.

Please send your paintings before May 22, 2016. The next challenge will be posted on May 23th.
Thank you kindly and Happy Painting
Lela
